About CryptoValue

CryptoValue exists to bring transparent, data-driven fundamental analysis to the crypto market. We believe every investor deserves access to the same quality of analysis that institutional investors have — without the price tag, without conflicts of interest, and without product placements disguised as research.

CryptoValue is written and maintained by Longchain, a small collective of technically minded people who have been around crypto since 2011 — back when there was no answer to “what is this worth?” and you had to work it out yourself. The name is the consensus rule: the longest chain wins. We follow the evidence, not the argument.

We publish under one name rather than several because what should convince you here is the method, not us. We are not financial analysts and do not claim to be. We publish no track record, no price targets and no forecasts — not out of modesty, but because we could not substantiate them. What we can substantiate is on the methodology page: every component, every weight, every limitation.

That includes this one: the weights are not backtested. They come from valuation research and judgement. We will say so here the day that changes.

The site is operated from Switzerland, self-funded through subscriptions and affiliate revenue, and owned by no exchange, fund or crypto project.

Unlike price trackers like CoinGecko or CoinMarketCap, we go beyond the market price. The Value Score combines supply structure, developer activity, capital locked in the protocol, the fees users paid it, and how long a coin has been away from its high — into a single number, calculated from public sources and recalculated every hour. Where a concept normally needs on-chain data we do not licence, we say which proxy we used instead.

Every score we publish is generated by the same open methodology, applied uniformly to all 1000+ coins we cover. We do not accept payment for higher scores. We do not hide sponsored content as research. Sponsored placements (when present) are always clearly labelled and have no effect on a coin's Value Score.

CryptoValue is free to use. Revenue comes from three sources: optional Pro subscriptions, affiliate links to crypto exchanges and hardware wallets (clearly labelled, no impact on scoring), and clearly-marked sponsored coin listings. We never sell users' data.

Market data — prices, market capitalisation, volume, supply and all-time highs — comes from CoinGecko. Capital locked in a protocol and the fees users paid it come from DefiLlama, matched by identifier rather than by name. We do not licence on-chain data such as realised cap or active addresses; where a concept normally requires it, we state the proxy we use instead and name it as a proxy. Score components and editorial commentary are produced in-house and recalculated every hour.

We structure public market, supply and developer data alongside available TVL and protocol-fee data. Realized cap, active addresses and on-chain transaction volume are not measured. The score describes these inputs; it does not establish a true network value or predict returns.
